SUSTAINABILITY & COMPLIANCE

Sustainable management

Sustainability that WORKS!

We understand sustainability to be a holistic approach that makes our company as a whole more sustainable and consequently more viable.

  • Sustainable management: The concept of sustainability is practised in all areas of the company – from logistics to sales.
  • Green products and sustainable services
  • Sustainable support for employees
  • Social commitment
  • Energy, climate and the environment – for us and our customers

Numerous individual projects in these areas help us to improve and develop business processes that enhance cooperation with our customers and cohesion within the company, and raise environmental awareness among all of us.

Compliance has top priority

Compliance is given top priority at Kellner & Kunz and in the RECA Group, as are high quality standards, proactive environmental protection and sustainability in management, matters of employee responsibility and all operational processes.

The board members of Kellner & Kunz AG and the managing directors of all the companies in the RECA Group are expressly committed to competing fairly and to complying with all applicable national and international laws, with particular emphasis on corruption, bribery and price-fixing. These are rejected outright and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Kellner & Kunz AG maintains a set of guidelines which specify appropriate rules of conduct in unequivocal terms. All employees are informed of these and trained accordingly.

Efficient guidelines and protective measures
Efficient safety guidelines, adequate safety organisation, together with those who observe and use these guidelines, are crucial safety factors designed to help the company continue to develop successfully!

Overview
Ecological packaging material
Ecological packaging material

Goods delivered to the central warehouse in Wels must be properly packed by our suppliers to prevent damage. Due to the growing quantities of goods, the amount of packaging material is also constantly increasing.

At first glance, the transport packaging appears to be useless waste material, the disposal of which generates costs.
But not at Kellner & Kunz. A recycling packaging machine is used to convert the packaging into filling material, which is then used for the company’s own parcel dispatch. In the process the cardboard boxes are shredded and filled into cushions, which are then used as filling material to protect the goods being shipped. The packaging is therefore made entirely of paper and not plastic.

When the customer opens a parcel from us, he will not find any paper strips as filling material, but clean cushions, which he can either reuse or dispose of as waste paper.
The ecological packaging material results in customer satisfaction and reduces the costs for filling material and disposal, making it a WIN-WIN situation.

Sustainable shipping boxes
Sustainable shipping boxes

The stability of the shipping packaging is crucial when it comes to being suitable for parcel services or not. In the course of expanding the logistics facilities, a new environmentally friendly packaging process was introduced. The cardboard boxes are cut to the optimal size before shipping which significantly reduces the amount of filling material needed. Thanks to this more compact packaging, less damage occurs in transit, resulting in higher customer satisfaction – a WIN-WIN situation for all concerned.

Sustainable service
Sustainable service

Sustainable services in C-parts management:
Our numerous innovative and well thought-out service systems help to ensure that resources are used in an environmentally friendly way. The focus is placed on new technologies and the permanent development of efficient systems, which contribute to sustainability.

Bin washing system: RECA KANBAN systems with reusable bins
Our RECA KANBAN system is based on ecological reusable bins. These avoid packaging material and ensure that shelf space is utilised optimally. In order to be able to reuse the bins, they are cleaned in our own KANBAN washing plant with due regard for the environment and returned to the system cycle.

Environmentally sound product policy
Environmentally sound product policy

Through our ecologically orientated product policy, we aim to generate optimum customer benefits and, above all, to protect the environment. In doing so, it is of paramount importance to us that we use the best available technologies to safeguard the environment. With our RECA product range, we attach great importance to ecological improvements and recyclability (examples: H1 chemical line, fill-up systems for chemicals).

Hazardous materials management
Professional hazardous materials management is of major importance to us. This includes classifying and labelling chemicals according to the GHS standard, compiling safety data sheets, conscientiously assessing the hazards of technical-chemical products, storing hazardous substances and providing ongoing employee training.

Product innovations generate customer benefits
RECA keeps its ear to the ground when it comes to the market, allowing it to develop sophisticated products. The highlight of this success story is the RECA ratchet line, which won the Design Award 2017. Accordingly, the new RECA ratchet impresses through its unique combination of quality and innovation – a genuinely sustainable tool!

Energy, climate and the environment
Energy, climate and the environment

At Kellner & Kunz, we take great pains to be sustainable and environmentally friendly.

Use of district heating
Through our use of district heating we have become pioneers in environmental protection and sustainability. By switching to district heating, we have set an example to many large companies in Wels.

Cooling system that makes use of groundwater
In order to ensure that the air-conditioning of the extension in Marcusstraße is sustainable, we decided to rely on the use of groundwater. The cooling system designed for well water cooling is significantly more economical in terms of electricity consumption than generating cooling water conventionally using an air-cooled chiller. The electricity savings are shown in a comparative calculation between conventional technology and the chosen cooling system utilising groundwater. By using groundwater, it was possible to save a total of 102,500 kWh. This corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of 20 single-family homes.

Energy-saving behaviour
By taking just a few simple measures, everyone can contribute to saving energy at the workplace and thus protect the environment. Our employees are constantly made aware of the importance of saving energy and sensitised to this through various media. This includes, for example, using air conditioning, heating and lighting sensibly. It goes without saying that screens, PCs and printers are switched off in every department when work is over for the day.
